I’ve had some time to reflect on things. The need for kindness, especially.
Kindness is something that I value, and it’s something that I especially want to practice personally. Sometimes I succeed, and there are times when it’s obvious to me when I fail at it.
Lately, I’ve met new friends who have shown me kindness. It’s been a wonderful feeling. Recently I witnessed a particularly ugly moment of venom and bile, so one of my very best friends posted a good quote in response.
“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”
–His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso
That’s absolutely true. Kindness is a choice. Unkindness is also a choice.
Lately, I’ve chosen to surround myself only with kind, loving people. It’s no exaggeration to say that I’m happier than I can ever remember being. My future is so bright. It’s full of love and compassion. And when the trolls lumber out from under the bridge, I won’t fear them, and I’ll pay them little mind.
Give it a try. Kindness is win-win.
