It’s true! I’m still here. I’m posting. And LOL at that title, it’s been far more than a year since I’ve pinned something to this blog. Plenty has happened in the meantime, and I feel like I’m more inclined to check in and write here more frequently.
I’ve gotten a different job. Still using my Chemical Engineering degree, but more tangentially. No more working in a chemical plant. It’s all about market data analysis in the chemical industry, and writing monthly analyses and forecasts. Much better pay and benefits. Also, it’s 100% remote work. Gods, I’m damned lucky. Because of this, my wife [Borat voice] was able to find her dream job since I wasn’t tethered to a location. We’ve been pillars of support for one another and it’s paid literal dividends. Never been so happy or satisfied.
I’m sorry if that sounds like boasting; it kinda is. Not meaning to rub it in, but it’s my life and I’m here to chat about it.
Also, I’m determined to wean myself from Twitter. Now that a sociopathic billionaire [but I repeat myself] is in charge, I suspect it will slouch into Gab-The Next Generation or Parler 2, Electric Boogaloo. Instead, I’ve become increasingly fond of Mastodon. I may discuss in a later post the very real problematic side of Mastodon (namely the lack of central oversight).
